>I am a Researcher in mathematics and a Teaching Assistant at the University of Manchester, from which I have recently obtained my PhD in Pure Mathematics. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
>I offer private Mathematics and Physics lessons online (using Zoom) at any level (GCSE, A-Level, University students, Adult learners), for £30 an hour. Further, I offer 50% off the first lesson.
>Due to the lockdown, recently everyone has started doing lessons online. Well... it's not that easy. I have been doing this since 2015, and I use a high-speed internet connection, a hi-tech microphone with noise-cancellation and a Wacom CTH-461 graphic tablet, so I can write just as fast as I would do on a physical whiteboard.
In my experience, technology has reached a point where online tutorials have the same value as in-person lessons, and students can learn from the comfort of their homes, but only once their tutor has invested enough time and money in a good setup.
> I have been a private tutor for over 10 years (first in Italy and then in the UK). I have tutored more than 300 students, with great results and excellent feedback.
> My method is inspired from the “flipped classroom” pedagogic technique, where a substantial part of the work takes place outside the classroom in order to maximize the usefulness of the lecture hours. This means that a diligent student can obtain excellent results with a low number of paid tutorial hours.
This is not only cost-effective, but it also teaches the student how to be independent and work on their own – always remember that during the exam the tutor will not be present.
>I am registered as a self-employed person, so you will receive an invoice that you can use to deduct the expense off your taxes (when appropriate, such as businesses training their employees in mathematical topics).
Do NOT call me to offer to boost my rank on Google, to build me a website or similar offers. I really am not interested (sorry!).
